TRIBOLUMINESCENCE OF EuD4TEA
NEEDED

     -  Dibenzoylmethane
     -  Europium Nitrate Pentahydrate : Eu(NO3)3 . 5H2O
     -  Triethylamine : NEt3
     -  Dry ethanol

PROCEDURE

NEt3 (0.5 ml) are added to a suspension of
     dibenzoylmethane (1 g), Eu(NO3)3 . 5H2O (0.48 g)
and dry ethanol (30 ml) and the mixture is heated
till everything is dissolved. The solution is slowly
cooled down to room temperature. The crystals are
     washed with ethanol.

COMMENTS

The slower the temperature is decreasing, i.e. the
slower the crystallisation is proceeding, the bigger
and better structured the crystals are, which again is
increasing the efficiency of the triboluminescence.
Full name of the complex is: Europium Tetrakis
     Dibenzoylmethide Triethylammonium.
